Difference between portal and homepage?

Whats the difference between a portal and a homepage :confused:

Well, there isn't really a difference. A portal has many links to many other pages (get it: PORTAL to websites) while a homepage has just regular content. A portal can possibly even be a search engine.

Basically, a portal has many links. A homepage has regular content - namely focused on one subject.
