Haha... yes it is sad. This is what happens to (most) people who think they can make a living off of it.

Now, that's sad. Of course, most people bring it on themselves with lack of business sense.

Plus, I don't know of many people who want HTML code on the streets...

I do have one concern: how'd he get a camera, or is that just some news reporter/paparazzi guy?

Yeah, John C. Dvorak (dot-org-slash-blog, to anyone who gets that joke...) is a blogger.

Anyway, I posted the photo because I thought it was interesting. Just don't understand how anyone could think they could make money of HTML programming!! I understand C, C++, and Java would be paid for, but HTML itself is pretty simple.

You're kidding right? "Simple" as it might be, it takes some talent to pull it off properly. You just need to view the source of any number of pages and see the ugly markup.

Most large to medium sized firms have front-end developers on staff. Basically, a front-end developer is tasked with writing HTML and CSS (with some JS, if necessary). Sure, it's not making money JUST off of HTML, but that's the nature of the beast. If you're complicit with standards and best practices, then you'll be using CSS anyway.

In fact, we're in the process of looking for a front-end developer to hire.

When I said HTML is pretty simple, I didn't imply that it wasn't paid for (even though I made it sound like I did). Plus, off HTML alone, he should've said he was good with CSS or JavaScript too.

Considering the position this homeless guy is in, I kind of doubt he will get a front-end developer job (with just HTML)... I think that's what magicyte was implying.
