View Full Version : need help on tooltip script

1) Script Title: Image w/ description tooltip

2) Script URL (on DD): http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex4/imagetooltip.htm

3) Describe problem: Hi, I want to use this script to display an image only as a tooltip, without cell and text. The image has a transparent background and indicates the language of the link on which the mouse pointer is positioned. Therefore, I set var tipWidth to 0. This works fine in Firefox, but in IE7 the cell is still visible as a white rectangle, on which the image shows. And so the image's background is not transparent but white. I suppose that this has nothing to do with the famous 'transparent background problem' of IE6, as the problem persists in IE7. I think that IE doesn't accept cells with a width smaller than the image that is inside. Does anyone have a solution? Note that I don't know much about HTML, I just know how to copy/paste a script in my webpage ;-)
Here's where you can see what I mean:
Move over the large buttons in the center.

Thanks !!!

Hmmm at a glance it seems you should be setting the following properties of Tooltip script to transparent (inside the HEAD section of your page):

var tipBgColor= "transparent";
var tipBorderColor= "transparent";

Doesn't solve the problem, I'm still looking at these white rectangles in IE7. Too bad...

Change highlighted to transparent:

messages[0] = new Array('flag GB.png','',"#FFFFFF");
messages[1] = new Array('flag NL.png','',"#FFFFFF");
messages[2] = new Array('flag F.png','',"#FFFFFF");

I never figured it would be easy like that. Thank you so much!
