Lightbox opening images outside of iframe

I do not know if this is possible to do, but I really hope it is. I have my lightbox setup within an iframe. When you click on the thumbnails to activate the lightbox, I want lightbox to open in a new window, outside of the iframe... is this possible? I've researched this, and have yet to find an answer...

It's probably possible, but it kind of defeats one of the main the purposes of using a lightbox sort of interface to display images. That is to avoid resorting to a pop up window that may be blocked. If one were to try this, it would probably be easier to write some sort of lightbox type interface and have the page that is in the pop up have that on it - then feed that page the filename for the image.

However, I would recommend using lytebox:

It is very similar to lightbox, and can show the lightbox effect on the top page, even when the triggers (thumbnail or text links) for it are in an iframe.

I think I'm going to take a different route, and use tabs to control the information I wanted in an iframe - which will wipe out my need for iframes, and allow lightbox to open full screen! :)
