View Full Version : Internal Website Toolbar Help

This is referring to the HVMenu. I know in the posted rules above that 3rd party scripts might not get help, but I would like to try anyway. I tried to e-mail the original writer but the mail was bounced back saying the author wasn't there anymore.

I can have the code work perfectly on a single page. However, what I am trying to do is make a frameset, like it says in the instructions for the code, so that the menu stays static on top of the page and all the others load beneath it, with the menu staying. I am trying to get the look of a toolbar right below the browser toolbar. When I created the framesets, the menu stayed in the top frame with the menu and did not extend over to the second frame. I've tried to use a div layer with the z set to 100, just in case, but it did not stay on top. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Added around 11:00 : Maybe I'm stuck on using this type of script. I am just looking for a way to make a menu that looks like a toolbar that can contain company specific items that will open up either web pages or PDFs underneath it while still keeping the menu in place. The Google toolbar I have in place is a great example. It has single and multi-layered menus and stays. I've seen other menu bars before; is there any scripts out there that let me build a complete toolbar?

Added at 8:40 Tuesday: Here's the code that I have been using. I'm thinking that it has something to do with the code that allows the menu to extend to the other frame. When I make the menu frame around 600 pixels high the menu fits fine, but that leave like 30 pixels for the other items to show up in.

Index Page:

<title>Index Page</title>
<frameset rows="23,*" framespacing='0' frameborder='0' border=0>
<frame frameborder='0' framespacing='0' src="MyNavigation.htm" noresize scrolling='no' name="MyFrameOne"></frame>
<frame frameborder='0' framespacing='0' src="MyMain.htm" name="MyFrameTwo"></frame>

MyMain Page:

<body onload="javascript:{if(parent.frames[0]&&parent.frames['MyFrameOne'].Go)parent.frames['MyFrameOne'].Go()}">

MyNavigation Page:

<body bgcolor="#d4d0c8">
<script type='text/javascript'>
//HV Menu- by Ger Versluis (http://www.burmees.nl/)
//Submitted to Dynamic Drive (http://www.dynamicdrive.com)
//Visit http://www.dynamicdrive.com for this script and more
function Go(){return}</script>
<script type='text/javascript' src='testmenu.js'></script>
<script type='text/javascript' src='menu_com.js'></script>

The menu code works fine, it's just had my menu elements added to it so I don't think I needed to post it here.
