View Full Version : Video Playback in Featured Content Slider

1) Script Title: Featured Content Slider

2) Script URL (on DD):

3) Describe problem:

We are trying to insert a JW_FLV Media Player into the content slider.

It works the way that it should in Safari (For Mac). When the user clicks on the video play button, the content silder stops advancing to the next slide so the user can view the entire video.

But, in Firefox (For Mac) the video gets cut off because the content slider automatically advances to the next slide.

I think this may be a z-index issue.

I had no luck with the swfobject solution here:

You can see the slide in action here. The video is in the second slide.

Basically the problem should boil down to clicks occuring on the video player itself not being registered/detected by JavaScript. The slideshow script tries to detect any clicks on a slide, and when that happens, stops the slideshow from playing. The relevant code inside the .js file is:

sliderdiv["onclick"]=function(){ //stop content slider when slides themselves are clicked on
featuredcontentslider.cleartimer(setting, window["fcsautorun"+setting.id])

Now, if clicks on the video aren't being recognized as clicks by the browser in question, that's when your issue occurs. I don't know enough about Flash or the video player in question to know if there's a way to better facilitate the browser's JavaScript engine from detecting clicks made on it. Testing your page in FF3 and IE7, I see that in the former, clicking the video properly stops the slideshow from auto rotating, while in IE7, it doesn't. This is basically an issue with the player. If you're able to find a way to code the player so it runs some custom code whenever it is clicked on, let me know, and I can tell you what you should put in as that code to stop the slideshow explicitly.
