Hi guys, this might seem really quite trivial to you and i know your probably gona send me off to about 6 million links but il have tried them all.

Im looking for a step by step setup for a WAMP environment. Everywhere i look the tutorials always say for older versions and when i try and get my hands on them then the older versions are not available and quite obviously id prefer the most up to date versions.

Can anyone help?

Here's one link that has a pretty detailed setup with fairly newer versions of the server software.

http://apacheguide.org/index.php

Of course, you could always download and install XAMPP (http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html) so that you don't have to install everything separately.

Hope this helps.

Cheers man that apache guide is really good, originally went to try and get XAMPP working(never heard of it before you mentioned it) but i couldnt get the apache service started for some reason.

Went for the guide for installing everything seperately and iv got apache and php in so far and working. just got to do mysql now, sort of done that before. just gotta know how to connect to it.

wanna get jsp and tomcat in aswell, java is definitely the way forward but its been awhile :S

Are you already running a server on port 80? If so Apache won't start.

Do you have Skype installed? Skype interferes with port 80 when it can't get through with their other ports.

hi guys, nah i dont, but i did manage to get XAMPP installed. it think it was the mysql that was interfering originally. i had a version on there previously and i might have had some left over apache tomcat files left over from removing it.

but cheers anyway :D

i do have another php problem posted already (passing variables to functions) its called so if u can help then great :D
