1) Script Title: Navigation Bar

2) Script URL (on DD): http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex1/sm/index.htm

3) Describe problem: I want to know how to break a script down. The site I am working on has several scripts from different sources, one of which is extinct. So using the navigation bar script as example I would like to know where I go to find out what each line means. Is there a book that stands out? Is there a site like "babblefish" for javascript? Is there a way to break down this script to find out why it runs? And what makes the index page script work? I have "JavaScript for the World Wide Web" by Peachpit Press, but it is not written to explain script, only how to make simple ones.

Here is the index page code, most of which I can figure out.

<script language="JavaScript" src="menu.js"></script> This tells the browser to look for javascript in "menu.js.
<script language="JavaScript" src="menucontext.js"></script> Tells the browser where to find the pull down content
<SCRIPT language=JavaScript> A new script for what? What "Toolbar" Why "()"?
showToolbar();
</SCRIPT>

<SCRIPT language=JavaScript> ?
function UpdateIt(){
if (ie&&keepstatic&&!opr6)
document.all["MainTable"].style.top = document.body.scrollTop;
setTimeout("UpdateIt()", 200);
}
UpdateIt();
</SCRIPT>
