View Full Version : Dropdown/Overlap spaces too far away from link?

1) Script Title: Dropdown/Overlapping Content Script

2) Script URL (on DD): http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex5/overlapcontent.htm

3) Describe problem: I've abandoned my search into using an imagemap to create clickable areas with these dropdowns, and found a solution - I'm using DIVs to create tiny layers with clickable content in them, and placing them in absolute positions around my map. My new problem is that the dropdowns appear to be opening about 300 pixels below the clickable area, instead of right below it. There doesn't seem to be any variable in the dhtml code that identifies an offset, and the javascript intimidates me beyond timid tweaking of the first few lines where it's expressly stated that it's okay to tweak.

The page I'm working on is here (http://stage.pendragonhomes.com/communities/). The yellow squares are blank .png images (which will eventually be transparent - they're colored for plotting purposes). Only the top three squares are "live." On mouseover, the dropdown/overlap box pops up, and as you can see, the box is offset too far for a user to get a mouse down there to click.

I'm not an advanced coder by any stretch, but I am learning the fundamentals. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks to this post here (http://www.dynamicdrive.com/forums/showpost.php?p=127161&postcount=8) regarding an older, but similar script, I was able to find a way to manually tweak the overlaps to appear closer to the pin points, however, it only seems to work on the scripts coded for "left-top." Since my map points are going to fall all over the map, I'd like to know if there's a way for the overlap to appear in a more dynamic way, so that the overlaps for the bottom points open up above the hot area, or the left side of the points on the right side of the map, etc.

Once again, any help is appreciated.
