Search Engine

I want to put a search engine on my site that only searches my site. My site is a list of businesses in my area. So, for example, if someone is lookin for a shovel, all the businesses that sell shovels will turn up on a seperate page.

I know how to put meta tags on the pages but can someone explane if im even on the right track???
