View Full Version : One CSS/Javascript Modal Window To Rule Them ALL! (Thanks JScheuer1!!)

1) Script Title:
Lightbox image viewer 2.03a

2) Script URL (on DD): http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex4/lightbox2/index.htm

3) Describe problem:

I've posted this to help the hundreds (literally) of people I've seen in DD's forums and across the web that have problems with Lightbox's background overlay not fully covering the browser in IE6. This problem isn't limited to Lightbox either, it literally happens with every single interstitial content / modal window that I've experimented with online, and that's a lot, easily 12 different ones. Thanks to the DD forum user, JScheuer1, the issue is completely remedied, assuming you use a proper DOCTYPE. So if anyone out there has been experiencing this problem (or similar modal window quirks), like I have which has cost me weeks in extra coding, click the following link and check out JScheuer1's "MyBox" code. It is, and I say this with complete confidence, the one and only css/javascript modal window to rule them ALL!

Also, if you're a stickler for standard compliance and cross browser compatibility and are on the verge of mental collapse due to IE6's absolute disregard for web standards, I urge you to check out Dean Edwards' script called IE7 (http://dean.edwards.name/weblog/2008/01/ie7-2/). It's a javascript library that forces IE6 to behave like a standards compliant browser, and save you weeks of unnecessary IE6 "hand-holding". He just recently updated his library as well.

A special thanks to coders like JScheuer1 and Dean Edwards, these guys are making the web a better place :)
