Alternatives to Paypal?

Does anyone know any trusted payment sites for receiving payments and sending payments? I want one with a donate button too. :o

I have heard good things will EVENTUALLY come from Google Checkout. Will wait on that one though.

What's wrong with paypal? It's trusted, secure, links to bank accounts.... Sounds like the one you need to me.

Thanks I'll check out 2 checkout. I do want to use paypal but I forgot the password to an old email address that I used for it and have been having trouble setting up a new account with the same bank details. :(

Have you contacted them with the details of your old account?

They aren't that bad to work with, and are pretty patient.

Just find your password. If nothing else, if you have your bank details that proves your identity, so I'm sure that, if you do contact them directly, they'll be able to work it out. You could even just prove enough that they cancel the account rather than giving you access to secure information (if they aren't absolutely certain it is you), then start a new one. Automated "forgot my password" systems have their faults, yet are in place more than friendly, helpful staff usually-- so, find a number to call, and see what happens.

I agree completely with Blizzard, though. Google looks very promising, and everything yet from Google has been great. But it's not ready yet.
Today if you must use one, either as a webmaster or as a customer, there is no question it should be paypal. I don't like a few things about it, but it is popular and with something that is optional on a website, it simply must be popular. As a webmaster, there's a good chance people will have paypal and be able to pay you (or at least know what it is enough to get an account and not feel like it's just for your site), and as a customer, you will have access to a vast number of websites that allow for paypal transactions.

Because of this issue of popularity, NoChex and 2 Checkout are just bad options-- not that they are bad services (there's a good chance they are better than google), but using them requires the other end of the transaction participate. I've never heard of either, and I'm on the web a lot, so I think the odds that any customers you have or sites you want to pay will have these accounts are very slim. However, if these services are better, I strongly suggest implementing those as well on your website(s), likely in addition to paypal. If paypal isn't good, then the only way to replace it is to slowly spread the others around the net and give people reasons to sign up (yet do allow paypal so your customers who don't want a new service can still buy things). Really, though, I'd suggest focusing on Google checkout in that sense. I'll be surprised if it doesn't catch on soon, too, so it won't be a huge stretch to have that be a useful addition to your site(s).
