submit a "something"

Hello, I would like to have something like this where people submit things. In this case, it would be "results" so can someone tell me how to make it. All I want is the ability of visitors submiting results.

Dear, I guess your requirement is to get user input in the input boxes or textarea, if this be the case, there are several custom codes available in PERL to help you out. If you require something like Attachements in e-mail, then that's what i also am looking for, specially coded in PERL.

It's just a form... You can make one, and then link to it with a button that says "Submit A Result" if you wish...

There are even self explaining tutorials about building forms. like this on in PHP (http://www.tizag.com/phpT/examples/formex.php) or this one in PERL (http://www.oreilly.com/openbook/cgi/ch04_03.html)

There are even Free ones ready to go and out of the box (http://www.freeperlcode.com/guide/Form_Mail/) (I like Cliff's btw)

Ohh nice. I am trying to the PHP one, however, when the visitor is filling out the form and presses "Submit" where do the information completed go to?

You would set it up to get sent to you via an email. You would redirect the visitor to a "thank you page" letting them know their submission was sent successfully and offer a link to go back.

What exactly is it you want to do with this?

My understanding is you want a form on your page, and you want people to put in their email address, a subject, and a message and hit submit, and this information will be sent to you via email, without displaying your email address.

Is that right?

Ahh, okay. The reason I asked was I have a php submit form that does what I stated that is very very secure, and prevents spam and bots very very well.

I will take a good look at it tomorrow (I am too sick today) and will try to edit it for the fields you need.

If you could list for me all the fields you want it to have I will see what I can do.

Exactly what is on this page, however, instead of having it named as "results" I want it to be known as "races and events". Also, some extra fields such as "video url", and having the ability to write the exact address (an option though visitors can choose). Also instead of having "start date and end date" just have "dates of event". I will see what I can do with the donations, I would really like to donate! Thanks again.

Yup, no problem. Also, is there a way that will sort it like that exact page (http://www.flocasts.org/flotrack/results.php) where the results are listed and I view only about 50 a page and the rest automatically go into other pages (1,2,3,4,5...etc.) Thanks!

THANK YOU!, ok, now this is what the errors that I am getting. http://athletes4excellence.com/contactForm/contact.php I checked the contactForm/lang/ and theres a directory of English and sophyblue, but no english.php, then inside the folder sophyblue, there is english.php, so I linked to there.

AHHH! my bad! thats what I get for doing 4 projects at once while being at work. I have removed the old one and re-uploaded the correct folder. Just grab it and unzip, then just upload the lang folder, remove all that sophyblue crap.

I will look at it more, I can't see any errors in the coding... may be in the PHP so I will have to check that out in more detail when I get home.

Alternately you could make them NOT required...

Wow, just wow! That is incredible and I also like the "IP" and "Host" thing that comes along with the email. So, the only problem is the fields, this time I made it not being required, however, I still filled out the fields, and in the email that I received they are blank.

Okay, I am a dork I guess... I figured out the problem, tested it this time and all is well. The problem was the "fieldname" didn't like having capital letters in it. so where I had fieldname=fm_resultsGender I have changed it to fm_gender (I also felt the "results" part was redundant.

It works now and I have re-zipped and uploaded the entire thing (with working field sets now)

Make sure you uploaded the newer file and made all the changes again. Then refresh your browser or better yet clear the cache, to ensure you are seeing the new page.

I tested it 2 times each of 6 browsers and 4 email addresses, and it worked fine each time.
