View Full Version : Text width in scroller tiny in ie

11-22-2007, 08:21 PM
1) Script Title: gAjax RSS Ticker

2) Script URL (on DD): http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamici...xrssticker.htm

3) Describe problem: The width of the scrolling text is not the width of the box. This only happens in internet explorer. I can't see where it could be wrong, i have it working fine in other places but not at this box width (700px). Any ideas? You can see the problem at http://www.withnature.co.uk/lifestyle_news.php

Hope to hear from someone who can help, many thanks.

You cannot center absolutely positioned elements via 'align="center"' in IE without throwing things off, also, 96% apparently wasn't working, changes/additions red:

#example2{ /*Demo 2 main container*/
width: 700px;
height: 200px;
border: 1px dashed white;
padding: 4px;
background-color: #565832;

#example2 div ul{ /*Demo 2 UL container*/
margin: 0;
padding-left: 18px;

<div style="width:700px;margin:0 auto;text-align:left;">

Thanks for your help John, i'm delighted to say that it's sorted out thanks to you pointing me in the right direction.

Your link to ocean conservancy is very interesting too, i'm just going to spend a bit of time browsing there.

I'm having almost the same trouble only in my case, vertically.

When it scrolls up, it's way too high that runs our of the top border.
Here's the link...

Can you take a look on it's code John?
