I have added Flash detection code to the index page of my new website but there is a problem with some of the people I have asked to help me test the files. A few people have come back and told me that they receive the following error when they try to open my site within Explorer:

Security Warning
Do you want to install this software?
Name: Adobe Flash Player
(Install and Don't Install buttons - neither of which work for these people)

The frustrating thing about this problem is that they can all see any other Flash site I send them except mine. The problem isn't that they don't have Flash Player, its something I have or haven't done right. Any ideas? the url to my site is http://clearlygreendesign.com/

Which Flash detection method have you used? There are several including specific player version, active x (affects IE) controls, or flash player not installed at all.

Groan...I'm much more designer than coder so I took the easy way out and just used the publish settings in Flash. You can have a look at the code at http://clearlygreendesign.com/ I've been told to go to http://blog.deconcept.com/swfobject/#expressinstall and try that method. It indicates that its easy but it's over my head. I'd love to hear your expertise...

Okay, which version of Flash are you using and which settings did you publish? If you are using 7 or lower the links are wrong on the auto generate. If you tell me which you used and how I can tell you how to fix it.

Hi Blizzard, I managed to get it to work using the swfobject method and it seems fine. Thanks for all your help with my site. It's finally finished!

Great! Now just run a check on the links. If you used Flash 7 or lower it will link to macromedia.com which no longer exists, instead you will need to rewrite the link to point to adobe.com
