1) Script Title:
done... see above

2) Script URL (on DD):

3) Describe problem:
not really a problem...more of a...how do you...:O)

is it possible to make a reference to this script via an external.js ...aka it will be on alot of pages n' id find it alot easier to edit one file and have the changes reflect across the website...

hugs as always n' looking forward to a possible solution.../me...justame

Certainly. Are you talking about this script in particular, or in general? I ask this because the referenced script is quite outdated.

A good tutorial in general for putting a JavaScript into an external file: http://www.javascriptkit.com/javatutors/external.shtml

i typed up a biggggggggg reply complete with text and this darn thing went blank...

ill be back after typing up my reply in notepad...n' then just a matterŽ of pasting it in here...

but in brief???
yes i have read that tutorial...i had taken the first 'save' in the head and stripped out the script tags...saved as scroller.js... linked in head as...
<script src="scroller.js" type="text/javascript">

put the onLoad="begin()" in the body tag...

but then i ran into trouble in the next put into the body one...

it will be going into a table cell.. as per the scripts advice...

and i copied the code...again stripped out the opening/closing first set of script tags...but then there was another set with a set of span tags...so do i just strip out the second set of script tags...save it as... scroller2.js

and then in the table cell where i want it to go? <script src="scroller2.js" type="text/javascript">

but when i try that? it just doesnt show and i get the error of...line 63.. character 16... expected yadda yadda...

this because the referenced script is quite outdated.

i hear ya...but the client just wants just a simpleŽ...
<td><img src="newsupdate.jpg" width="" height="" border="" alt=""><script src="scroller2.js" type="text/javascript"> </script></td>

so do you know of something else you could send me in...aka not flash... just a simple typewriter typing out a line by a line that can be 'linked' to the actual news item/practice cancellation notice...

hugs as always.../me...justame

Hmmm perhaps this one? http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex2/typescroll.htm It's the closest I can think of, on DD at least.
