Link to TextBox

I know his has been asked before, (can't find old topic) but is there a way when inserting text into a textarea with a link to not clear what is already there, and if possible, control where it goes (like if you type a certain thing it will replace that). I would prefer ti be able to do something like, when you click the link wherever ['output1'] is, it will output there and replace that text and if you click link two it will replace ['output2'] and it must be capable of somehow getting HTML into he box. That has been my biggest hangup.
