Sometime back - around a year or so - there were websites that used to have this (not seen any recently using it ) - I remember one of them was 'legally blonde' - even MSN used to use these things with the adds - also the butterfly from MSN was animated to move on the screen and would then settle in a specific location. Or for that matter a Car would zoom in an be a part of the Advertisement on the website - It was a flash animation that had a transparent background - kind off
How is this done?

Flash and JS. JS to control the size, transparency and showing, location and frequency (mouse over, just once) of the Flash animations.

Have fun (http://www.flash-applets.com/tutorial/transparentmovies.html)
The best though is to learn Flash enough to make your own. Great tutorials help and the best ones are not free...
However, cartoonsmart.com (http://www.cartoonsmart.com/exciting_flash_ads.html) has some good banner ad tutorials for cheap.

You're Right,
I will be starting to revise my flash skill very soon, I used to do simple animations n link in flash before (4yrs ago) - not so much with actionscripts. Now that I have to put my hands in it I will need to start - That was a cool site - I remember a site virtual-fx at that time - but its not the same anymore - Blizz, can you recommend a few more websites that offer good tutorials in flash - especially that teach how to process backend data - or pull up info from a text file? :p
