Thumbnail Viewer II with progress bar preloader???

I'm trying to figure out the best way to implement a "image preloader"
while using the Thumbnail Viewer II.

it's a photographers website therefore lots of photos, there must be some
way to preload the images and/or while the images are lodaing there be a progress bar in the "loadarea" instead of that damn default "no image" available yet, which always puts me on edge.

your suggestions are greatly greatly appreciate. i've tried a few different things but every time a big flop. i'm hoping since i'm pretty new i'm just not aware yet of how easy this might be..thanks

The first thing that needs to be done is to optimize the images. The thumbnail images should be about 3k bytes apiece, not 40, and the larger sized images should be about 25k bytes apiece, not 100.
