1) CODE TITLE: Imapper

2) AUTHOR NAME/NOTES: John Davenport Scheuer (jscheuer1)

3) DESCRIPTION: Imapper replaces an image map with an absolutely positioned image and links, often allowing it to 'play well' with scripts.
Optionally allows for a resizable (via browser font-size changes) map.

Imapper replaces RECT shapes with exactly matching links. CIRCLE and POLY shapes are replaced with link boxes that have their shape centered inside them.

4) URL TO CODE: http://home.comcast.net/~jscheuer1/side/imapper/

or, ATTACHED BELOW (see #3 in guidelines below):

One nice feature of image maps is that you can do non rectangular shapes.
Slices are easy enough for rectangles, but the only way to have a circular or irregular polygonal shape is with an image map.

Scripts seems nice, though.

BTW, if you're looking to imitate the trend, it would be iMapper, not Imapper... not sure if that was your goal or not.

Slices have several undesirable characteristics in any implementation. Maps are good for their irregular shapes, but in some browsers can throw off scripts that need to know where the link is when it is hovered or clicked, or that require a link tag, not an area tag.

Neither Maps nor Slices (easily) can change size with browser font-size changes.

As far as the iPoo :) syntax goes, that was never in my mind for this script. It is not meant to be apple-ish.
