Hello everyone!

I have a problem. I've volunteered to design a website. I did that... it's awesome, my graphics are scaled and optimized, java affects, css style sheets, and a very slick design... the graphic approach fits the organizations marketing plans, it's organized script, clean, etc. They loved it.

What I didn't know is that the board members for the project I am volunteering for had already voted in a webmaster... who, of course, isn't familiar with code, html, scripts, nothing...and strongly defends the use of Frontpage! with single side frames, no graphics, and lots of text.

They don't want to loose their webmaster, but love my design... but I don't want to be their "bit#!" the fix his "sh@@"... (please don't delete this post!!)

In other's experience, is it easy to modify Frontpage sites to accomidate graphical layouts/changes and controls (his proposed site is crap and up) or do I need to defend myself a little more as someone familiar with stylesheets, java, html, and code.

what you are using is javascript
ENTIRELY different from Java, which is a full fledged programming language

if someone has been hired to create a website and has no knowledge of scripting, and only uses editors, well then you definitely should boast yourself up as a more technical candidate.

All WYSWIG (or whatever they're called) editors are for amateurs whom do not really know how to code, and/or do not want to spend money to hire someone that knows what he/she is doing. Now I am going to be a little hypocritical here, because I am a web developer and I use Dreamweaver 8. However I only use it for the coding view, which is color coded depending on language being used, which I am also getting away from. Now I am starting to use a more "technical" type editor called Vim, which was originally designed for use on linux machines, however there are now Windows compatible versions available. basically Vim isn't much more then a color-coded notepad... which is all I used Dreamweaver for.

In all my experience (8+ years) of web development, Front Page is without a doubt the worst front-end editor, not only from a technical stand point, but also from a designers stand point, because of the limited options and lack of standards compliant templates (which I am told the new Dreamweaver CS3 impliments). Now it may have changed dramatically in the last 2 years since I last used the program, however whenever you can showcase your technical talent I would say go for it (especially if you already have the site built)

I know I know I am writing an essay, but this is the last tid bit.
If you have created / are creating this site to be standards compliant, well that is definitely something you should push, because it will be widely supported across multiple browsers currently, as well as in the future.
