Element Slide In

Is it possible for someone to help me with using just a single effect from the Slashdot Menu script? (http://dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex1/slashdot.htm)

What i'd like is to be able to implement the "slide down" effect, but that js is a little complicated for me to chop through =p

Something like combining a switch content script with a slide down effect, instead of just instantly moving elements down.
