1) Script Title: Blending Image Slideshow

2) Script URL (on DD): http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex14/image4.htm

3) Describe problem:
I'm getting little white dots on some of the images during the slideshow. They are not present on the actual .jpgs. Does anyone know why this is happening?

That script is out of date, but that has nothing to do with your white dots. The white dots are IE artifacts and can be relatively easily removed in several image editing programs.

A better choice of script would be:

which has been updated here:

The main advantage in either of these two scripts is that they work well in virtually all modern browsers. The blending script works well only in IE, poorly in others, and not at all in some modern browsers.

OK, back to your white dots. What you need is something like Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. Any really advanced image editor will do, as will some of the less advanced ones, as long as they can make the following type of adjustment. Make sure to keep an original copy of you image around. Load your jpg into the program. Select:

Colors > Adjust > Levels

and then on that dialogue box, make sure that the channel is set to RGB, and set the output level 0 to like 9. It will vary from image to image as to what the exact number will need to be (probably 10 or less), a little trial and error may be required. Save the image and test it in a fading/blending slide show in IE to see what effect you are having.

Thanks, jscheuer1! I was able to fix the white dots using Photoshop. I never knew what the Levels adjustment was.

I'm going to go ahead and use the Blending Image script for now, even though it's obsolete. I may go back later and upgrade to one of the newer ones you recommended. But I did try the first one you listed once before and wasn't crazy about it. Maybe I was missing something, but I really didn't want two different images blending in and out. I just wanted one. But I'll go back and check it out again.

Thanks again.
