editing swf flash files, can it be done?

I have to re-write a website for a business and a couple changes I need to make are in a flash file (swf). There is no flash project files and the original designer is no longer working for the business. Is it possible to edit an swf file? I have Flash MX but I have yet to find a way to open, rather than play the flash file? Please advise! :)

Try Sothink SWF catcher... (again use google...) has a firefox plugin as well! Be warned though, that the decompiler, may not replicate the .fla files perfectly / or how the original was made (I have been experiment with it, to decompile SWF files that have actions in I wanted to learn)...
