Hello everybody,

A simple question:

Does anyone know of a good FTP program that I can download and start using.

I don't need it to do anything extra special but I do work on a lot of different sites and at times have to transfer large (2MB-7MB) files.

Any suggestions?

Thanks peeps.

Personally, I like ncftp. It supports:
progress meters, filename completion, command-line editing, background processing, auto-resume downloads, bookmarking, cached directory listings, host redialing, working with firewalls and proxies, downloading entire directory trees, etc., etc.

FireFTP (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/684)'s good. (An extension for Mozilla FireFox)

FireFTP is good.
I also use FTPSurfer. It's an older program, but works well and is easy to understand if you're starting off.
FileZilla is also a good one.
There really aren't too many bad ftp programs, and everyone has their preferences. Really, the trick is downloading one, getting used to it, and liking it.

I use CuteFTP most of the time; although it is a paid program. When I am on the road, I use Filezilla (which I have installed on my U3 Flash Drive).

I've used SmartFTP for years. I love it, and it's free.

I use Ipswitch WS FTP Professional every time, I use CuteFTP some time when I want to delete all files in folders.

Filezilla seems to be one of the few that runs well on OSX.

I'm not usually a fan of GNOME-based programs, but yeah, gftp is a very nice client.

Personally, Filezilla is the easiest. Available on Download.com.
