godaddy, here. They're alright. Pretty cheap, good speed, options, etc.
Customer support is terrible. Long waits, nice staff, but they have no clue how to do anything and just view the online help file. Even things that go wrong with the company (like upgrading to a new server, and all the files being lost [happened to me once]), they have no idea how to fix.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with them.

FusedHosting (http://billing.fusedhosting.net/aff.php?aff=004), because they're the only host that lets me pay via cheque.

Hi all, new here, but I really have had great luck with godaddy.
I like how fast a site propogates when you sign up, and changes are fast.
They do have some problems but I alway have gotten good or at least fair tech help when needed.
thinking of starting to use 1&1 as to not keep all my eggs in one basket.
Alias domain hosting... alot of the others don't have it. I hear great things about hostgator too.

http://www.internetrunner.com/ at the moment.
Wow, I'm now seriously thinkng about moving to them. If you don't mind twey, could you tell me what their uptime and server speed is like?
They haven't had any downtime that I've noticed so far. The speed is good but not great; certainly workable, but nothing to write home about.

Great prices even with PHP and Perl. I got a good deal at only $36/year or so.
They even have a free hosting plan.
However, I'm thinking of upgrading to the more expensive one, as I could use some subdomains... I think choosing the Windows one would be a nightmare.
Techno_Race's Webhost Choosing Tip #1: NEVER use Windows servers. (As far as I know, UNIX servers are most reliable for basic websites.)
Developers, developers, developers, developers developers...Hahaha, Ballmer's such a nutcase. It's good Microsoft keep him on, if just for entertainment value. I suspect the folks at Microsoft feel the same way, provided they can duck a chair.
Techno_Race's Webhost Choosing Tip #1: NEVER use Windows servers. (As far as I know, UNIX servers are most reliable for basic websites.)I can't see any reason one would ever want to get a Windows server, unless perhaps one had a very large ASP project that hadn't been ported yet.

...or schools that force you to use it.
No, if they force you to use proprietary software then they should provide that software -- the easiest and cheapest way to do that would be to have a single school server that's accessible by all students.

I am still very new to all this. I have been makeing sites for just under 2 months and this is my site www.ethan.wmn.cc . Its a subdomain and free hosting. I am hosting it from webmaster-networks.com. I want the know what you guys think of it. Is it any good or sould I change to a diffrent host and if so which host (keep in mind it has to be free because I dont want to pay for a site if I am only going to be useing it for learning)

Warrior, that's how I started off man. That host is good for now, but make sure once you start getting more experience and stuff, you think about getting a real server/domain name.
However, for right now it's a good idea. Keep it up.

free hosts dont suck if you still learning . i mean if i didn't join my free web host then i would not have learn about makeing sure all the links work instead of going to ur local page to ur url. so yea i think free host are good for learner but as soon as you get beter then you ganna hav to pay
