I registered on Domainname.com for a website and paid for that and hosting. A day after this the site went down and has been down for 2 days. Is this site a crock or does anyone know if they are actually just having server problems? The domain i registered is not available anymore if i check on other sites and i really dont see how a site could shut down like that so im giving them the benifit of the doubt. Anyways i hope someone can help me and if this is in the wrong forum then im sorry and i hope that someone could move it because i really need assistance on this.

Thanks

You should call them.

You really should have written that phone number down. However, if you Google them, you may be able to get a number from another site that lists them or from a cached page of their site. When you Google and get the results, there is usually this at the end of each item:

Cached - Similar pages

If the page itself is unavailable, you can often get the information you are looking by clicking on Cached and viewing Google's copy of the page.

You did have some kind of communication with them in the past while buying your domain. From that communication(email) you can find their communication details.

That's DomainName.com's phone number (from the link you supplied). I understand you registered your domain name with them, are they also your host or did you go with another firm for that? The site being down would be the responsibility of the host.

In any case, the timing on this seems more like a coincidence, as - if it were a scam - they would need a more efficient way of scamming people other than setting up a phony company for each person. They (the host) probably are just having a problem with their server.

I called that number last night and was a answering machine for domainname.com saying call back between 12-5, called today and just rings. Nothing at all.

Greetings, I was crawling the web this morning searching for the same thing. The websit for www.domainname.com seems to be down, and we are in the middle of switching hosts, and the url won't transfer over. I tried to call domainname.com and only get a message telling me that "all their representatives are busy and that I should leave a message and they will call back."

With their site down, DomainName.com has either 'skipped town', in which case you are out of luck or, they are simply swamped with inquiries as to what the problem is, while at the same time very busy trying to fix the problem.

If the domain name you registered with them shows as 'unavailable ' for registration with other similar type services, there is probably a way to regain control of it for use with other hosts, but I'd give the DomainName.com folks some time to see if they are going to go back up or not first.
