1) Script Title: Image Thumbnail Viewer

2) Script URL (on DD): http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex4/thumbnail.htm

3) Describe problem: I have been trying to get this script to work for days. Thanks to you Web site I'm close. There's been some great suggestions and tips found here. Thanks!

For some reason the large image that the hyperlink points to does not display. It appears to be loading but nothing happens. Please see this URL http://www.photographybyelena.net/vintage.htm.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

That's a strange case. Often the problem is that the image isn't on the server, at least not as written in the code. I tested this idea out and found that not only were the images there, in fact, once my browser had cached them by viewing them directly, they then worked in the script.

I'm really not sure what is causing this but, I am fairly certain that it has something to do with your host. I notice that you are using the absolute path to the larger images, ex:

while using the relative path to the thumbnails:

This leads me to believe that it may be that the server thinks you are attempting to use the host as a remote image host. If this is happening and, how this is determined by the server and the fact that it is even determined at all would be setup by the server's administrator. If that is what is causing it, we have no control over that and it may not be amenable to this script. If that is the case, a different host would be required.

But, I would at least try using the relative path for the larger image:

<a href="images/vintage1_lg.jpg" rel="thumbnail"><img src="images/vintage1.jpg" border="0" width="60" height="90"></a>

If it is the host but not a problem with a remote image hosting ban, you may just need to be sure that the permissions on the images and the images directory are set right. Or, you could place the images in the root (if you do that, make sure to change their paths in the code to reflect this), to see if that helps. Or, try preloading the larger images.

To find out if any of this is happening, contact your host or, if their is a forum for their service, ask in there.

If none of this is the cause, it may be other scripts on the page. Remove all of those and see if the thumbnail script then works. If so, there may be a way to resolve the conflict.
