Bill Gate's e-mail is bgates@microsoft.com

Who's up for the challenge? E-mailing Bill Gates and telling him about something.
I'd love to hear what he says.

It doesn't go to him directly, I'm sure. He has a staff that reads them, and relies in most cases, though they may forward some occasionally to him.
To get him to reply, you'd need to send something that he'd actually want to read and reply to, so it couldn't just be a test to probe his response.

At the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos in January, Mr Gates predicted that technology would make spam "a thing of the past" within two years.
Riiiiiiiiight.
And Windows will be open source and have better stability than OSX.

Well, of course. But he doesn't check it directly. He has a dept. to check his e-mail.

Hmm.... "Did you know that Linux will overpower Windows in 20 years? :D"

Me: What OS are you running?
Customer: I've got Windows Viena Sausage!
Me: Are you F****ing serious?!?!?!?!

It says that there is almost an entire dept. filtering gates' spam for him, then near the end of the article it says that only about 10 a day get through because of the antispam technology...

This article contradicts itself.

djr33
04-19-2007, 07:36 PM
Well, micro$oft claims "technology", but they are probably referring to the technology department... all of the people manually filtering, because micro$oft doesn't have access to gmail.

That would be hilarious, though, if Gates used gmail instead of hotmail.

Well, up until recently I heard HoTMaiL ran on Linux, and the Halo movie by Bungie (owned by Microsoft) was rendered on Linux boxes. I wouldn't be too surprised. :p

Bill Gates is finally realizing that Windows products suck.

Well, up until recently I heard HoTMaiL ran on Linux,
Uhmm, not really, they used BSD and Sendmail, but since the news broke out, they immediatelly switched to Advanced Servers 2003 for mail distribution- which, as expected caused a lot of troubles (anyone remembers how slow Hotmail became?)

Rumor says they can't still get the infrastructure running without BSD!

Oh really? I never looked into it closely, it was just a rumor as far as I was concerned.

In fairness, the problems could just have been teething troubles -- happens to the best of us.

And you post it in a forum lmao! That's classic, you're my new hero for the day!

The article linked at the top of the thread quotes Bill Gates saying span would be "a thing of the past" within 2 years... and the article was written in 2004... so let's see... 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007... hmmm... it's been more than 2 years by my count. Oh wait, he must have been referring to gmail making spam a thing of the past within 2 years of 2004... yeah, that's it :P
