1) Script Title: RSS Display Box

2) Script URL (on DD): http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex18/rssdisplaybox/

3) Describe problem:

I am looking for this script to be altered to fit my needs.

The script is used for displaying RSS feeds on html pages. This script in its simple form will grab RSS feeds with date title and description.

I will be using the feed to display listings from sites such as eBay, eCrater and other listing and auction sites that use feeds.

When the RSS feed is displayed in its default form (out of the box) it will show:
* The title of the listing
* The date of the listing
* The description of the listing (including image, buy it now links etc.)
(Sample attached of default RSS feed listing)

The script says that if you have a little coding experience you will be to create new templates to display the feed information.

That is what I need done, if it is possible with this script:
* The listing image displayed
* Description of the image displayed (without buy it now buttons etc.)
* The price of the item
(Sample attached of Adjusted RSS feed listing)

I am not sure if this is possible with the script or if a new template would work between different sites RSS feeds.

I would be willing to pay a small fee if a template could be created to do so.

Do the feeds in question contain all the information you cited above as far as image, description of image, and price? Do you have a sample RSS feed URL? Basically you can do anything within the confines of Simplepie to parse a RSS feed (see its list (http://simplepie.org/docs/reference/) of available functions). I can certainly at least point you in the right direction on how to accomplish what you're looking for.

Different Feeds might have slightly different layouts but images, links and titles are visible on each.

Here is an RSS Feed from an eBay store seller:

Here is an RSS Feed from an eCrater Store seller:

One site I was looking into also didn't have images with their rss feeds so I would not use that site.

thanks for taking a look and for your help.

Just testing the above two RSS feeds. I wasn't able to retrieve the first one (eBay) using RSS Display Box (PHP kept timing out). For the second one though (eCrater), I noticed that the product image, price, plus "buy now" button are all included as part of each item's description already. This means that when I used the script to display the feed, all these components are shown without any changes to outputbody.php.

The ebay is working fine for me with the RSS display box.

But after you gave me that page and I tested out different code with a new template I do see that both eBay and eCrater send out their descriptions with everything attached and their is no way to get just the image to be displayed.

It is actually a great script, I can still use it. I will just have to work around the data that is supplied.
