Need help with background image

How can I get my blue sky background to show up with the lines/breaks? Or, how can I make the image stretch without distorting the picture?

Shoot! I made another grammatical error and only now realized it. I meant to say "WITHOUT" the lines/breaks. Maybe you all figured out my mistake.
