howdy,

first let me say this is an EXCELLENT site - thanks!

I Installed mikes scroller on a web site. It works great. One small thing I can't seem to sort out. In Safari it looks perfect. But in IE 5.x the red bar that is suppose to be at the top is truncated. Is there anyway to make the red bar run across the top like is does in netscape & Safari?

here is a link to the installed script:
http://bwlandscaping.com/

& this is a link w/o the script showing how it should look (just in case the other link doesn't show the full red bar in your browser):

any help is much appreciated

I tried setting the layer width to 100% in dreamweaver. this made the bg color of the layer (#cc3300) go across completely but then the scroller text was not centered anymore.

I'm sure it's something simple, I just can't seem to figure it out.

ciao,
jr

Hi:
As this is a 3rd party script, my understanding of it is limited. However, my guess is the problem in fact occurs in Safari, not IE, though in this case, it works out best in the former instead. The scroller's width is controlled by the line:

var myScroller1 = new Scroller(0, 0, 800, 18, 0, 0); //(xpos, ypos, width, height, border, padding)

or "800" in the above. In IE, the scroller in fact seems to be a width of 800, while Safari ignores this and sets it to the width of the entire window. Ideally you want to be able to set the width to 100% instead to look consistent in all browsers, though from what I can tell this scroller only supports pixel widths.

ah yes just love all these browsers & their layers.

i ended up finding a work-around by setting the layer width to 100% & placing a spacer image in front of each text line in the scrolled messages to push the text into the position i want.

thanks for looking at this.
