Implementing two menus

greetings,

I'm trying to implement a javascript menu down the left hand side (vertical) and one along the top (horizontal). However when trying to implement two of the same type of menu it gives errors because it's calling on the same or similair functions. When trying to implement two differnt types one will show while the other won't. Any ideas on how or what I can use to show two menus.
