Is there a way to place a div on top of OBJECT Type elements?
I have an active X grid control in OBJECT Tag, I want to display a div on top of this grid. Z-Index didnt work.

<div>my div tag. hi.</div>
Also, it would help if you posted the code you're trying to use.

I think I was not clear, the following is what I'm trying to do.

In my aspx page I have a reference to a js file, which has the following code.
var gridStr = '<OBJECT classid=clsid:some value></OBJECT>'

This will display a grid (active x) in the browser. I have multiple buttons on the page, when a user clicks on any button I want to display a progress bar image on top layer above this grid (i placed the image in div).

Whatever Z-Index I give for the div, it always display either above the grid or below the grid, not on top as a layer.

Let me know if this is not clear, I'll try to post a screen shot

Are you using either absolute or relative positioning for the div? If not, I would thing you may have to or, at the very least, get creative with its margins. Also, the object must be capable of supporting elements being viewed as obscuring it. In flash, this is accomplished by setting the wmode to transparent. With other types of objects, there may or may not be a way to do this or there may be no need for anything special for it.
