How do you get that little icon by the url? Can you do it with html? Thanks, JF

It's called a favicon. Instructions and guides to make one (including an automatic version) are right here on DD. Look to the right from the main forum index and you will see the favicon generator link

Put a favicon.ico in /public_html/. That will be it.

In IE 7 it does.

IE will work, however, for some reason it usually takes up to 72 hours for IE to start showing the favicon.

Why is it that it takes so long before it works? If I make other changes in HTML or CSS it is almost instantly changed.

Because in IE, it will cache the favicon i believe. And will not actually take the time to reload until a "routine" "re-load".... But I am not too sure of the actual reason. That is just what I suspect!:p

Obviously doesn't in version 7! (I use Windows Vista--maybe that's the difference!

Yeah it is! Plus Microsoft can shut down the bulk of your PC at any time... Does that not make anyone else a little but uneasy?

By the way, when I started I upraded to a Vista-specific PC... over 1 GB RAM and 2 40GB HDD's. I haven't had a problem. My copy of Windows Vista is functioning properly. I've installed antivirus software and it automatically does Windows Updates. I have a 1280 x 1024 screen and a PS/2 keyboard and USB 3000 DPI optical mouse (as if that has anything to do with Vista)! :p
