Who knows a solid, reliable, secure, free ftp client? One thats known by many.:)
I dont feel like paying, however will paying for one be a better choice?

Filezilla (http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/) is a decent one that is free. I use it both as my FTP client, and I also use their FTP server for my home server.
EDIT: Sorry Code-ex, cross posted.

Good too! I have used that also. I ave used many many many ftp programs. Including the crappy windows file based ftp thing. LOL! great for school though!!:) Thats one of not so many reasons i actually have a use for it!

Another FTP client I just thought of (not free though) is CuteFTP. I don't have a url for it, and like I said it isn't free, but it is a fairly decent client.

Thanks All,
I really like the look and sound of smartftp!~ Will be downloading it soon!
I use ncftp (http://www.ncftp.com/)... supports all kinds of nifty features like resuming.

My server host provides a cool admin page with a built-in FTP system.

I use FileZilla for big uploads (e.g. forum system, CMS) and my Net2FTP Installation for anything else. http://control.killerchutney.co.uk
