Preloaded Slide Show - Simple Question

Using the Preloaded Slide Show script:

If I don't care to use buttons, but would prefer the simple "Next" and "Previous" links to advance to the next slide, how do I modify the script?

I liked two features about the pre-loaded slide show script: the lack of any fades or random effects in transitions between slides, and that the script didn't require all the images to load in an array before displaying the first. I am a photographer and want to load up 30 images, but to load them all ahead of time might test the patience of the user.
