EDIT: Ok, it works very good with some little changes. Oh, i love this site :-)

1) Script Title: Image Thumbnail Viewer

2) Script URL (on DD): http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex4/thumbnail.htm

3) Describe problem: Show image in a div and not in a kind of pop-up?

i would like to use the script for a kind of image gallery. i like the fade-effect and that the images are loaded without refreshing the page.

i generate the image-links with php. no i would like to have a div-container within a html-page where the images are displayed (not in a pop-up). is this possible with this script or is there a script i could use for my needs?

I think you want:

Unfortunately, that script needs updating. The fade (actually a swipe fade) only works in IE and in IE 7 there is some kind of layout problem that make the effect jumpy.

Added Later:

The layout problem is no big deal, you just need to specify the correct dimensions for the target division. In the demo, these are specified but, are too small, causing a jumpiness in IE 7 as the image overflows its container.

John is right, Image Thumbnail Viewer 2 (http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex4/thumbnail2.htm) would be what you want in theory, though as he's mentioned, the script needs updating, such as the fading oddities in IE7. I'll get to updating this script soon.

With a bit of modification, the Swiss Army Slide Show (http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex14/swissarmy/index.htm) can do that:

It can do almost anything.
