View Full Version : Newbie to Java Script Needs Help Please

Hi all,

Firstly I am new to this forum and secondly I am new to Java scripting. I use a website creator that is 'wysiwyg' Serif WebPlus 10 and it has its limitations.

I have a website I am making for my wifes business she is starting:

I have uploaded the template of what the site looks like to assist in my explanation of what I am after.

For one page of the site I have 12 thumbnails that I want to place in a certain size area on the page - I want them in a line (horizontal) and I want to scroll the thumbnails left or right. So there are only three thumbnails showing in the area at any time. I also want the thumbnails to be clickable to display the true size image in another location on the page.

If you look at my site, there you will see at the top right a white circle - this is where I want the true size image of the thumbnail to appear. Below the circle is a large rectangle shape this is where I want the scrollable thumbnails to appear.

I know it can be acomplished as I am sure I have seen the effect on other sites.

I would be most gratefull for any assistance.

Hi Laxey

I hope you've found some help somewhere else by now. I'm new to the forum too but it seems like I might have some insight for you! I've got a similar thing going on for my clients site (a collection of certain sized thumbs in one area with the enlarged images open in another area) and I waiting to hear back from this forum on the next stage (prev and next navigation).

you might want to keep an eye on my thread for that last solution:
PHP Photo Album, How to add: 'prev' and 'next' controls? (PHP Photo Album, How to add: 'prev' and 'next' controls?)

but in the mean time have you experimented with these DD options?
"PHP Photo Album script (http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex4/php-photoalbum.htm#note)"

combine with this post to adjust pop-ups to desired in page location:
"PHP Photo Album Script Image Display (http://www.dynamicdrive.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11034&highlight=PHP+Photo+Album)"

or this for navigation (maybe also with div tag solution above for enlarged image but haven't tried it myself))
"CMotion Image Gallery (http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex4/cmotiongallery.htm)"

Good Luck! Your site design is really pretty and looks like you've built a solid foundation.
