Just messin' around today and an idea popped in my head (not always good :)). I designed an OS (windows) type feel for a webpage, completely PHP.

Check it out:
(sorry, link deleted)

I can't quite configure the titles though, they seem to be giving me a headache.

I like it as it is now, but it would be a little bit better if you had the title of the page (item) being displayed in the top porton of the page (in the div where the close image is.) Then, you could probably make it a tad bit better by using AJAX.

But as is, still good!

Interesting. The idea is cool.

Okay, now I have the titles configured. It's complete :)

It's actually pretty cool...

Warning: file_get_contents(1.php) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /usr/export/www/hosting/mburt/projects/windows/index.php on line 98

I get that error on everypage (with the exception of the filename in the file_get_contents() part).

Ditto, got the error on all 3 pages as well. :(

Yeah, I moved the page, sorry :(
I'll try to fix it. It was working before.

Okay, should be fixed now.

Looking good, but it seems to be missing something. Not sure what, but it just seems to be missing something. Maybe someone else may have some suggestions to add to it.

Yeah, I had looked at it earlier and there were errors in FF and Opera. Now it seems to be hitting on all cylinders. If nothing else, this sort of thing is a great exercise in web design, honing your skills.

Wow, thanks John, I really appreciate it.

I think what I'll do is have a background type thing on the blank page, like a screen saver.

That looks a lot better! But where is the home button? Once I click on your tabs at the bottom I can't "easily" get back to the desktop page.

Or is that your trick? Trap me in there with a Windows look and nothing left to click on?

Well, it is resembling Windows. lol

Lol, THE X BUTTON lol... so maybe it's a little subtle "Home Page" button. But it sort of serves it's purpose.

That's what most resembles windows anyways. :p

I had a somewhat slow day today as well, but I was able to accomplish something today (even while troubleshooting a few people's "simple fix" problems). Take a look at this post (http://www.dynamicdrive.com/forums/showthread.php?p=69156#post69156).

Ahh.. didn't even see that. It is not something I am used to seeing while the browser is up. I like it though!

It's sad though, in fact. I got all the images by use of Print Screen; which means that I run Windows ( BOO!). I WANT LINUX... but it is currently out of my limits :)

Why is it out of your limits? Just curious

Okay. I'm 14, have no source of reliable income, and I'm using my parents computer.

You can download the .iso disks for free. LOL install on already owned hardware, or spend the $60(US) for a second harddrive and dual boot.

But I do understand about $$ though, and as long as that is your only stopping point you will get Linux soon enough. :D

Yeah, I would definitely need another hard drive, my parents would kill (not literally, it's a saying) me for screwing up their computer.

As is always the way. So you just make them buy you a new harddrive, then you can convert them to *Nix after and they will thank you :D

I'm not sure about the legal implications of some of this... I have a feeling those images may be copyrighted. I'm not a lawyer, though: you should probably ask Microsoft.

And draw attention to yourself committing a copy write infringement?
Thats Bad Form.

The font's suppose to be in Tahoma right? (For the menu)

Why not change the colors on it, and get rid of the Windows logo in the top corner, then you should be good with Microsoft.

Yeah, I'll take it down soon. I just wanted some people to look at it.
