1) Script Title: Email Riddler Help

2) Script URL (on DD): http://dynamicdrive.com/emailriddler/index.htm

3) Describe problem: I have put this script into my website, and when I mouse-over the email name, the email address shows up on the status bar. I have tested it in IE6 and IE7. Does this script have to be online or should it behave properly off the hard-drive:confused:
Also, I have a Drop Down List as an attempt to thwart spammers (it dosen't help) can I use this script within the Drop Down List?

Spammers will not get your email address from the status bar.

Any idea if I can incorporate this script into a drop-down menu?

Once the cat is out of the bag, your email address is pretty much toast. Protecting it at that point will cut down on spamming somewhat but, it will never be like an email address that was never posted unprotected on the web. The spammers collect and trade the addresses they already have.

Riddler can probably be combined with just about any method of representing the email address, as can this non-javascript method (javascript is required to use the encryptor but not to email to the encrypted address):

The main idea is to represent the email address in the source code in a way that spammers' bots won't recognize as an email address. These bots are not very sophisticated so, just about any encryption scheme will do.

Here's your drop down page encrypted:
