1) Left-Right Slide Show Script:

2) http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex14/leftrightslide2.htm

3) I have installed the above script and loaded 12 photographs to use with it. I am using Frontpage 2003. When I conduct a preview it works perfectly, when I then go and view it in a Browser it works perfectly however I have uploaded my entire site and it does not work at all. What is interesting is that the first picture shown is in fact the second picture on the slide show. Additionally if you are quick to view you will notice the first picture (an Artillery Badge on a black background) flash then disappear.

The slide show is of 12 Artillery Badges and is located on my Home Page right hand side and the first (but really second) picture you will see is that of an Artillry Badge on a white background. The URL to my home page is: http://australianartilleryassociation.com/home_page.htm.

Thanks for all the help it is greatly appreciated.

Kindest Regards,

Graham Hampton

There may be other problems but, in IE 6 and above, the page never loads. IE 7 is waiting for:

Enter URL

as the source for the iframe from the 'AnimatorPro code block' (near the end of the page).

The slide show that you are having problems with doesn't completely start until the page loads. Try it without the 'AnimatorPro code block'.

Thanks for your reply I have done as suggested and it is now working. However slide 6 repeates itself twice and slide 11 repeates itself 3 times and I do not know why. Additionally, you will notice upon initial load of the page it flickers back and forth between slide 1 (black Artillery Badge) and slide 2 (White Artillery Badge) before settling down and commencing. Are you able to help with these two factors please.

Images:

slideimages[5]='<img src="home_page_images/raabadge006.gif">'

and:

slideimages[6]='<img src="home_page_images/raabadge007.gif">'

are the same image. These two images:

slideimages[9]='<img src="home_page_images/raabadge010.jpg">'

and:

slideimages[10]='<img src="home_page_images/raabadge011.jpg">'

are the same image.

You need a closing </a> tag and a 0 border here (additions red):

slideimages[0]='<a href="http://australianartilleryassociation.com/home_page_photo_enlargement.htm"><img src="home_page_images/raabadge001.jpg" border="0"></a>'

If you want the entire show linked, each image must have the <a> </a> tag around it and the 0 border added to it in the array.

The start of the script is made slower because of the two huge images that slow the load of the page, as well as the counter, which seems to take awhile to load. You should make thumbnails of:

aaa_seal.gif

and:

qldsl022.jpg

and use the thumbnails on the homepage there. Consider getting a faster loading counter or skipping it altogether. Finally, even with a faster loading page, the image2/image1 dance will still be noticeable on slower connections. It can be avoided by editing the script (changed/added sections red):

function startscroll(){
if (ie||dom){
scrollerdiv1=ie? first2 : document.getElementById("first2")
scrollerdiv2=ie? second2 : document.getElementById("second2")
scrollerdiv2.style.visibility='';
move3(scrollerdiv1)
scrollerdiv2.style.left=scrollerwidth
}
else if (doc . . .

and here:

<script language="JavaScript1.2">
if (ie||dom){
document.writeln('<div id="main2" style="position:relative;width:'+scrollerwidth+';height:'+scrollerheight+';overflow:hidden;background-color:'+scrollerbgcolor+'">')
document.writeln('<div style="position:absolute;width:'+scrollerwidth+';height:'+scrollerheight+';clip:rect(0 '+scrollerwidth+' '+scrollerheight+' 0);left:0px;top:0px">')
document.writeln('<div id="second2" style="position:absolute;width:'+scrollerwidth+';left:0px;top:0px;visibility:hidden;">')
document.write(slideimages[1])
document.writeln('</div>')
document.writeln('<div id="first2" style="position:absolute;width:'+scrollerwidth+';left:1px;top:0px;">')
document.write(slideimages[0])
document.writeln('</div>')
document.writeln('</div>')
document.writeln('</div>')
}
</script>
