I am setting up a work station, and need some guidance if you please :D

I have the following:

1 Desk
2 CPU Towers (each with 2 hard drives and grub loader to boot each)
2 monitors
1 Keyboard
1 Mouse
3 PCI Video cards with monitor in and outs
1 KVM switch

Obviously with only one monitor I would just use the KVM switch as normal, and then could select between the two computers and use the board, mouse and monitor as needed.

But I need to set up the dual monitor situation, you know, where the monitors are connected side by side and you can mouse from one to the other.

But I need to hook both monitors up to both CPUs and the KVM switch.

I can't figure it out. Is there a guide or does anyone know how, and can walk me through it?

Thanks.

I believe there are software for this, some even free. Check out this cnet how to video that I believe answers your question: http://www.cnettv.com/9710-1_53-24717.html

BTW I recently bought a KVM switch to switch between two PCs using one keyboard/mouse. Best thing I bought in a long time! I have multiple IEs on the test PC that I can now instantly switch to, not to mention other things that are exclusive to each PC. I don't know how I ever lived without it.

I know exactly what you mean! I love that thing! Taking multi-tasking to the extreme now!

Thanks for the clip, I think I can do something with that now!

Muchas Gracias!

After watching the clip, I must say I was appalled! She said a KVM switch was over 100 bucks!??

I both 2 of mine brand new at a department store for 27 bucks each!

This clip must be a little old! ROTF!

Anyway I will look into this synergy thing, might be worth it.

Actually the clip was produced on Oct 2006 I believe. But anyhow, I think she was deliberately exaggerating on the price of KVM switches to make what she has to say look better. My KVM switch was also just $25 I think.

Preying on ignorance then... I like Cnet though.. never went to their vidoe section before. Will have to check it out in more detail later.

Thanks again for the link!
