Animating Text

I have some text which I want to make look like it is being written on the page... Is the only way to do this to just use a mask that follows an invisible pen stroke manually?

Hand written? Yes, right now that is the best (and only way I know of). If you invent another you will be a damn hero!

If you want it typed like at a command prompt, there are tons of ways to do those.
