I made an HTMl demo for a client who wants to keep it. I dont weant him to copy my code so I was thinking it it was possible to make it somehow generic.
Any ideas?

Your use of "generic" is misleading.
I think you are just asking for a way to block him from saving the page... well... it's not really possible.
Since he's just a client and paying you to do the work, I would assume he is not particularly aware of getting around the means that are available to obscure code, so you could try looking into a javascript encoder/decoder to scramble the code. It won't stop anyone who knows what they are doing, but might help in this case.
That, or show him in person on your computer.
Or do a screen capture
... quite a few options.

I too do not understand what you mean by generic. If the client payed for the work, doesn't it belong to them anyway?

I think the question is just how to show them without giving them access to the source code, because he has yet to be paid by them for the work, pending on whether or not they like it.
Can you just meet in person? Or send a screen capture...

Screenshot would be the safest indeed.
