1) Script Title: Manual Scroller

2) Script URL (on DD): http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex2/manualscroll.htm

3) Describe problem:

I'm trying to recreate a scrolling frame of content, without having to use Flash. My client does not have Flash skills, and at the same time would like to be able to update her website on her own. Therefore this bit of content has to be done without Flash.

Here's an example of what I'm trying to recreate:
Wait for page to load, then click "People". I'm trying to recreate the scrolling frame of thumbnail images. Use the small arrows at the top and bottom of the frame to scroll.

Requirements: I want to do this WITHOUT a traditional right-side scroll bar. I want to use buttons at the top and bottom of the frame which will control the scrolling.

The "Manual Scroller" script on this site comes somewhat close to what I want, but not quite. I don't want text links across the top (I want buttons like in my example), and I don't want it to auto-scroll at all.

The scrolling motion itself does not have to be as fancy as this flash version (where it slows down, etc). The main thing I want is the basic navigation style.

Does anyone know if this can be done without flash? I'm a bit of a newbie at DHTML, etc, so please explain carefully and/or provide example code that I can play with.

I really appreciate it, thanks!
