I have been having problems with people logging into my machine. They are logging into a domain. I need to know how to lock out the student login and keep it so I can still log in. If anyone would, or could help, that would be much appreciated. Thanks for any help, JF

I don't understand the question.
Are you just talking about desktop logins, not anything network/webbased?
Set the security on your computer so they don't have an account and change your password....
If it's networked based, which it sounds like it might be as you said "student" and many schools have networks for logins, then I wouldn't bother trying... just talk to the school's tech department.
Generally, there is some way to set the computer as restricted... basically add your password to it, so they log on but then need to log on as you, so they can't do anything.

User Account Control.

Sure.
But still depends on how it's being accessed, and even what OS we're talking about....

He said Domain and I've been banning students from the computers since the new server has arrived. Muhahahahaha! :p

You're a teacher? Interesting...
Freeman, you want to ban students from accessing a domain or from accessing your computer?
Do you mean they are accessing through your domain to your computer.
Hmm... still not quite clear here :)

They log on to the domain using my machine. My machine is XP Pro, the Domain is Windows 2000. My boss did configure it to do it, but he left, and now it dosen't work. When they try to log in when it does work it says that the student doamin is unavailable. Im an administrator so I log into the student domain but with different privilages. I would like them to not be able to log into my machine when they try to log into the domain. Thanks for the help, JF

You're a teacher? Interesting...
You mean me?
Yep. But they should change mine to "Noob" :p (I know nothing)

I meant profession.
And I was asking both of you (in different posts).... I think.
Freeman, not understanding the question.
You want to block people who access a certain domain from using your computer?
Or block them from your computer totally?
Or block the domain from those who accessed your computer?
How is a domain windows 2000? The server?
Are they going to the domain in a browser or are they actually accessing the server?
Think NetBIOS domains, folks.

Alright.
I'm mostly curious because I had a teacher named freeman last year. His first name, however, was Dan.

At our school when you want to log into a machine it asks you what domain you want to log into. There are two domains, one for teachers, and one for students. I need to know how you can make it so that they cannot log into the student doamin with the student permissions. Thanks for the help, and no I am not a teacher, never really liked kids... JF

Oh, ok.
Not really sure how to accomplish this. I'm sure there is a setting for it, but not sure what.
Is there a 3rd party product for the login? (As in not windows).
If so, you might just be able to put a password on the windows login and be done with it.
Aside from that, I really think you gotta talk to the tech guy. Perhaps someone else who already has this set?

I am the tech guy. I have tried many different settings with the local machine, maybe it is something that the server can do for me. Thanks for the help, JF
