favicons in my IE browser disappeared

All favicons in my IE browser for those sites that I bookmarked have disappeared. Still visible in FF.

Do anyone know what is the cause of the problem and how to allow the favicons to reappear? I tried re-bookmarking the website but failed to bring back the favicon.

IE is known for sporadic favicon behaviour. The tip I have heard is to visit the site, and click and drag on the default favicon in the address bar.

It worse than that, he's dead Jim. Favicon support in IE 6 is so poor that once these have been lost in the bookmarks section, there is no reliable way of restoring them for long, if at all. They may come back 'by themselves' but, if they do, don't get too excited as, they will soon disappear again.

blm126's tip works for the favicon in the address bar, usually. But, it may or may not have any effect upon the bookmarks. Even if it does, it is not a lasting effect anywhere.
