I am trying to figure out how to use the slideshow with filenames stored in a database. Does anyone have any information on how to go about this.

It depends on the language you're using to access your database, and its structure as well. A nice tutorial to get you started is this: PHP and JavaScript (http://www.javascriptkit.com/javatutors/externalphp.shtml). On page 2 it shows the approach to using PHP to dynamically populate a JavaScript slideshow with all images from a certain directory automatically.
