View Full Version : Scrollable Content/Exlporer View Problem

Hello everyone - I've been visiting the dynamicdrive.com site for awhile but this is my first visit on the forums.

I downloaded and used the scrollable content II script (http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex11/scrollc2.htm) on a page I'm building and it looks fine in my view. I am viewing in 1280x800 on an XP machine using IE6. The guy I'm building this for is viewing on a Mac at 1920x1200.

It loads up fine in his Safari browser, but looks like hell in IE and Firefox. I loaded it up in Navigator, Opera, Firefox, & IE and it looks fine in all of those. What could I be doing wrong? The scrollable content box is being thrown upward and to the left, and it is cutting off the bottom half of the background.

Here are screen shots: What he sees in Safari (how I see it...how it is suppose to look!) HERE (http://www.ryandharris.com/lust/Safari.jpg)

What he sees in Explorer/Firefox HERE (http://www.ryandharris.com/lust/Explorer.jpg)

The page is located HERE (http://www.ryandharris.com/lust/news.html).

Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong? I just can't figure it out. No matter what I shift around or change, it looks fine and works in my browers. What could be so different about Explorer/Firefox running on a Mac on a larger screen?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Without a mac to test I can't help you but I am suprised by the fact that firefox is displaying it differently. I always assumed the different version(between OSs) were compatible. As for IE/mac I wouldn't worry about, its market share is almost zero with Safari as the default browser(which is a good thing). Anyone still using IE/mac is probably used to problems.

I know its not widely used on the Mac (Explorer that is), but is there anything at all I can do to fix this? I know in the coding for the scrollable content II, there is a seperate section of coding for Netscape (it defines the content dimensions and so forth)....can that be done for other browsers?

I would think it is a problem only of the scrollable content in that browser on that OS platform BUT it also cuts off the bottom of the background - that shouldn't happen at all regardless of the scrolling content.

I'm just totally lost...

I'm sure there is some way to get it working on IE/mac, but it would definitly require a mac for testing. So if you would like to buy me one, I promise I'll get this script working for you :p

haha if I had the money to go out and buy a mac, I'd have it set up to do audio recording by now! And I certainly wouldn't be giving it away! Sorry

No one else here has any clues as to why this is happening??? I thought this is where I get script help!

Vry few people have Macs to test.

I know, its hard to find anyone that has a Mac on these kinds of forums unfortunately (although it makes plenty of sense not to buy one of those damn things!).

I was just wondering if anyone could see in the HTML or the DD borrowed script a problem that might cause it...

IE5/mac is a strange beast it is hard to predict what will happen after all the bugs and incorrect CSS interperations take their toll.
